A sophomore mass communicationmajor from NewOrleans became the first “MissCollegiate 100” at Dillard onOct. 16 in Cook Theater, edgingout four other competitorsin the pageant.Kristi Coleman competedagainst four contestants beforean audience of about 150to win the position of femalespokesperson for the new allmaleorganization. The pageantalso was used as a fundraiser,generating an estimated $500to promote DU’s Collegiate 100Black Men chapter communityprojects.The runner-up was SheenaSampson, a junior mass communicationmajor from Dallas.The other three contents included:• Chrishira Perrier, afreshman theater major fromNew Orleans.• Jasmyne Fine, a juniorbiology/pre-dentistry majorfrom Los Angeles.• Ralshella Washington, ajunior theater major from NewOrleans.Contestants were judged onbusiness attire, swimwear, talent,formal wear, and questionsand answers. The judges includedLagina Williams, Miss Xavier;Ashlee Yates, Miss DillardUniversity; Nick Harris, adviserto the Dillard chapter; and MatJones, president of 100 BlackMen of Metro New Orleans.
