Ray Charles lost his sight at the young age of 7 years old,shortly after witnessing the death of his younger brother.

“Ray was always positive about what he was doing, and I admirehim most for that,” music legend James Brown once reportedly said.”I tell you one thing: He could see a lot better than those witheyes.”

Inspired by his self-determining mother who insisted that henever allow his disability to get in the way of his dreams, Charlesfound his way behind the piano and his voice.

Touring across the south, the soulful singer gained much respectbefore exploding to mainstream music industry. Charles received alot of hostility for combining gospel, jazz and R&B intomusical magic. As he revolutionized the way that people listened tomusic, he endured many obstacles such as segregation, adultery anddrug abuse.

The Universal Studios movie was released on Oct. 29, 2004. Theweekend gross of Ray was $20,100,000, coming in at #2 in the boxoffice. Foxx and the entire cast gave a landmark performance.
