NEW ORLEANS (Oct. 27, 2017) – Rapper O.T. Genasis will headline the 2017 homecoming concert next weekend as part of a weeklong celebration at Dillard University on Nov. 4-12 that also will include basketball games against Loyola University.
The announcement was made via Twitter by the Dillard Activity Board, or DAB, that O.T. Genasis will perform at 8 p.m Saturday, Nov. 4, in Dent Gymnasium.
The winner of a campus competition at 8 p.m. Sunday at in Georges Auditorium will open for the singer, according to Alexis Granville, traditional and special events chair.
Born Odis Oliver Flores to Belizean immigrants, O.T. Genasis’ most successful song to chart was “CoCo,” which peaked at No. 20 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. His “Touchdown (Remix)” featured Busta Rhymes and French Montana. His most recent singles have been “Push It,” “Do It” and “Cut It,” featuring Young Dolph.
A full schedule of events has been emailed campus-wide, and the program was shared through social media site such as Twitter with the Homecoming hashtag, #ForeverBleu.
Events will include a staff vs. student kickball game Monday, Nov. 6; skate night Tuesday, Nov. 7; and NPHC Neophyte Presentation on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Other major upcoming events along with the homecoming concert and Greek showcase are the pep rally before the men and women’s basketball game Wednesday, Nov. 8, in Dent. The women’s game will start at 5:30 p.m. and the men will play at 7 p.m.
All homecoming events are open to the public and free for students except for the concert and the NPHC Neophyte Presentation. Concert prices are $5 for Dillard students with IDs and $15 general admission during pre-sale (through Nov. 3). Prices at the door will be $5 more.
Probate tickets will cost approximately $20, Granville said.
A Sunday brunch in Kearny and “Sunday Night Live” in Lawless Chapel will conclude festivities on Sunday, Nov. 12.
