It Takes Two is a new organization, focused on engaging Black men in reproductive well-being (RWB). Co-founder Kayla Hennigan said RWB provides access to information, services, and support for informed sexual and reproductive decisions.
“It is important to know these things,” Hennigan said, “Especially around the upcoming election and Roe v. Wade, these issues are more relevant than ever.”
Black men are often excluded from discussions on sexual and reproductive health, which
creates a gap in both awareness and care. It Takes Two aims to change that.
“[We’ve] launched this initiative to educate, empower, and provide sustainable resources for male RWB,” Hennigan said.
Inspired by their community partners Robin Gruenfeld, director of maternal & child health
collective impact at March of Dimes, and Dr. Bantu Gross, director of Fathers Matter, It Takes Two has already hosted events where they’ve distributed free Plan Bs and condoms and are planning more for this semester.
Other organization members include co-founder, D’Nyla Dean, social media and marketing director, Kweli Stevens, and committee advisory board members Santino Castillo and Bryon Hall.
“[It Takes Two] strives to create a safe space for Dillard students, and we value our community’s feedback!” said Hennigan.
