Hurricane Milton touched down in Florida, leaving some dead and millions remain without electricity, sources said.
Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, as a Category 3 storm. Milton had winds up to 120 mph, resulting in metal and debris across landscapes. The storm later diminished to a Category 1 moving inland. Meteorologists said that even as a Category 3 ,serious damage and flooding still occurred.
The National Weather Service in Miami posted on their official X page four visually confirmed tornados that made landfall during Milton’s overpass. Multiple cities in the area were issued tornado warnings on top of hurricane and storm surge warnings. More than 3.2 million were without power in Florida early Thursday, Oct. 10, according to Power Outage US and 50,000 individuals were still without power on Oct. 16.
