This past Wednesday, April 2, 2025, incoming elects for both the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Royal Court were announced. This semester for SGA, students voted to elect their president, secretary, parliamentarian, treasurer, senator for the class of 2028, and class representative for the class of 2027.
Lucine Flores has been elected by the Bleu Devil student body to be Dillard University’s 90th SGA President.
During her candidacy, Flores proposed to relaunch Oak Talk to provide routine biweekly updates from the SGA on Instagram. She would like to create an alumni mentorship program in collaboration with the Pre-Alumni Council and Alumni Relations, which would entail career guidance, tutoring, and hands-on experiences.
When describing her mission of advocating for students, Flores is earnest. According to her capaign, uploaded to Instagram, she wants to “Reinforce Senate Sessions & Town Halls, possibly linking them to FYS cards or Life After Dillard events. Resolve student organization advisors not receiving budgets for student engagement and push for transparency. Hold monthly meetings with university leadership to share student concerns and send follow-up reports to the student body,” she said. Flores’s leadership journey awaits her.
The SGA officers elected include: Frankiena Sensley for Secretary, Parliamentarian Madison Cox, Treasurer Makayla Green, Class 28 Senator Xavier Brewer, and Class 27 Representative Victoria Byrd.
The Royal Court members elected include: Miss Sophomore A’ja Jollif, Mister & Miss Junior Paris Allen and Maddison Black, Mister & Miss Senior Devryn Perteet and Anjelay Scott, and Mister & Miss Dillard University Santino Castillo and Nia Allen.
This semester, the student body participated greatly during the election; a campus announcement shared that 36% of students voted in this election.
