Students from the Dillard University K.B. Clark Psychology Club display their organization at the Organization Fair on Aug. 13.
The Dillard Bleu Devils returned to the oaks on Aug. 11 to kick off the 2025 to 2026 school year.
So far, students are already into the flow of attending classes, participating in student organizations, and engaging in campus events.
The Campus Programming Team’s organizational fair was one highlight of the week. It showcased all of the student-run organizations. This event was a part of their “Bleuprint” themed Welcome Week events.
“My first week on campus has been amazing,” said Paris Allen, a junior public health major from LaPlace, LA. Allen said he loved getting to connect with new students during his first week.
Nia Allen, the reigning Miss Dillard and a senior theater performance major, also enjoyed meeting new people.
“My first week on campus has been very enlightening. Meeting all the new people on campus, all the new freshmen, welcoming them in, and just getting back with my DU family; I just love it,” she said.
Other students are enjoying the ease of the first week back.
“It’s been chill! It ain’t too scary just yet,” Timya James, a senior visual arts major from Vicksburg, MS said.
While the first week was positive for some, it was a rocky start for others. had positive first weeks, others had rocky starts.
“My first week has been a little hectic, but we’re making it work. Everything’s going right right now, and that’s what matters,” said Bonnie Strong, a junior health science major.
Strong wasn’t the only one having a stressful week.
“It’s been a lot of ups and downs so far. I got a lot of classes. I had four classes back-to-back today. I’ve already got a lot of homework to do, so it’s a little stressful, but I can handle it,” said Kamerin Robinson, a junior computer science major.
Yet, they can all agree they are looking forward to a semester of engaging events and the continuous building of campus culture.
