NEW ORLEANS (March 31, 2022) – The Amazon x HBCU Heroes Career Summit today will feature Amazon executives and  “a wide variety of icons, celebrities and athletes” providing motivation and advice, according to CCPD Director Dwanna Toney.

The event, set from noon to 5 p.m. today on the second floor of the Student Union, will be held in conjunction with Final Four events, she said.

And on Friday, professional headshots will be offered free of charge by career services from 2-5 p.m. Friday as a semester’s worth of “Afternoon with an Employer” events wind down, Toney announced.

Students also have through April 3 to sign up for internship opportunities on Handshake through the HBCU Legacy Bowl held on Tuesday. Students can get more information about this HERE.

Some 17 events were offered in the DU “Employer” series from January to April, including workshops on a variety of career-related topics such as resume building and entrepreneurship. Executives from various industries were featured speakers in the series. The 2022 NOLA Career Fair was held March 17, and the Legacy Bowl Virtual Career Fair was held Tuesday.

The events counted for the “Life after Dillard” requirement for graduating seniors, but all students may attend any event.

To gain clearance for graduation, seniors are required to attend at least two “Life after Dillard” events, complete the NACE First Destination survey, set up a Handshake profile and upload a CCPD-approved resume.

Students already accepted into graduate school or who have a job offer are exempt from the requirements.
