NEW ORLEANS (March 4, 2018) – Dillard’s spring population increased 3.2 percent to 1,209 when compared to spring 2017’s count of 1,172, according to data released by Dr. Willie Kirkland, director of the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.

That compares to 1,292 for last fall, a 6.4 percent decrease.

Females make up three-fourths of the student body, with nearly two-thirds of DU students from Louisiana, followed by only California and Texas in the double-digits (10.7 percent and 10 percent, respectively). Some 31 states are represented among students.

Some 921 students are female (76.2 percent), compared to 288 males. Louisiana residents total 726, or 60 percent, followed by California with 129 residents enrolled and Texas with 121. Rounding out the top five states represented on campus are Illinois, with 60 students, and Alabama with 30 students (5 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively).

The percentage of Louisiana students enrolled has dropped by 1 percentage point as DU attracts more students from out of state. Meanwhile, the number of female students is up by 3 percentage points when compared to the male population.

The senior class is the largest with 338 students, or 28 percent, followed closely by the freshman class with 326, or 27 percent. The sophomore class has 274 students, or 22.7 percent, while the junior class has 226, or 18.7 percent of the total population.
