Dillard surpassed its goal and raised $26,250 during the United Negro College Fund Walk/Run at Audubon Park on Nov. 2, according to coordinator Erica Durousseau.
She said Dillard’s goal was $20,000 for the annual walk, which was delayed a month from Oct. 5 because of Tropical Storm Karen.
“Dillard surpassed this goal and bested the income of $16,000 made at the UNCF 2012 event,” Durousseau said, adding the final tally of total income for the event should be completed by month’s end.
Some 225 students and 62 faculty members signed up for the event, and 90 students and 16 faculty members actually attended, she said. The high registration number contributed to $4,000 in T-shirts sold, she said.
All told, some 120 representatives of the Dillard community were on hand for the actual event, including several members of the graduate chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Durousseau said.
The money raised by the Dillard participants will be placed into the college fund here on campus. Meanwhile, Xavier University gained an estimated gross of more than $30,000, according to Durousseau.
