New Orleans (Nov. 15, 2012) – New Orleans AT&T has donated $300,000 to DU’s Pre-Collegiate Emerging Scholars Program.
The grant was awarded in special ceremony Saturday morning in DUICEF, with scholars and their parents in attendance.
Sonia Perez, president of AT&T Louisiana, said in a news release: “It is an honor to support Dillard University and the work they are doing to help stem the high school dropout crisis in our country.”
The Pre-Collegiate Emerging Scholars Program is a free college preparatory program beginning with students in grades 8-10. Students are encouraged to remain in the program throughout high school. The program, which meets from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday, mainly focuses on reading, writing, math and science, as well as ACT/SAT prep.
