About 73 prospective students have registered so far to take a special free recruiting train ride to Dillard next weekend, and the Office of Enrollment Management is seeking DU student volunteers to help with the tour over the Easter break.
Rebecca Armstrong-English, coordinator of campus tours and special events for the Office of Enrollment Management, said the Dillard University Passport to Opportunity Campus Tour will start next Thursday aboard an Amtrak train in New York and travel through Atlanta before arriving in New Orleans with the recruits.
She said prospective students traveling by train are from New York; Newark, N.J.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Fort Washington, Md.; Alexandria, Va.; Birmingham, Ala.; and Atlanta. Additionally, some families are driving in from areas not specifically targeted by the tour, including from St. Louis, Mo.; McComb, Miss.; and Lafayette.
The tour is free, with students being provided transportation, lodging and meals, Armstrong-English said. Activities will include a city tour, movie night, a community service project, Hornets game, church service, student panels, a Student Government Association “meet and greet,” a pool party and an alumni function for parents.
Any Dillard student who wants to assist with the tour may contact Armstrong-English at [email protected] or 816.4670.
