NEW ORLEANS (August 31, 2018) – Applications for The Young Women with Purpose Project, featuring five $2,000 scholarships and an all-expenses-paid weekend learning experience in New York, are being accepted through Friday, Sept. 14.
Sponsored by the Tom Joyner Foundation in collaboration with Dark & Lovely, the project is open to full-time female juniors with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or better who expect to graduate in May 2020 from 10 HBCUs, including Dillard. Winners will be notified by Friday, Oct. 5.
From Oct. 5-12, winners will be assigned a mentor from the Dark & Lovely SoftSheen staff. SoftSheen staff will conduct tours at the participating universities, with winners notified of opportunities for involvement in the tours. Based on participation in the tours and mentor recommendations, five participants will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year and the week-long trip starting Friday, Oct. 18, with the chance to compete in a summer 2019 internship with L’Oreal.
