NEW ORLEANS (April 5, 2019) – Indoor rock climbing. Volleyball. Kickball. Kayaking on Bayou St. John. Knockerball. Spades.

These are some of the events scheduled by Student Success this semester.

Upcoming events will include an outdoor volleyball tournament next Monday through Wednesday, with a kickball tournament set for Thursday, according to the campus recreational schedule.

The indoor rock climbing will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13, a NOLA Boulder Lounge on St. Charles. A shuttle will be provided, and the event is free with registration.

Megan Byas, student engagement coordinator, said students can register on Bleu Connect. Participation in some events may require signing a waiver. For some events on-campus, students can sign up as late as the first 15-20 minutes of the event, she said.

Byas said her office has been pleased with turnout for the semester’s events, with about 20 at the first pool tournament and 30 for knockerball. For spades and a UNO game tournament, about 10 and eight people participated, respectively, she said.

“The goal is to keep double digits” at activities, Byas said.

Prizes for tournaments vary, she said, with previous prizes including a $25 gift card, tickets to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Bleu Devil Classic and complimentary tickets to the kayaking on Bayou St. John excursion March 23, for which students paid a discounted fee of $25.
