Dillard University’s campus will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21, and Wednesday, Jan. 22, as New Orleans prepares for an uncommon winter. Classes will be held asynchronously and are intended to resume on Thursday, Jan. 23.
As a polar vortex brings unusually frigid temperatures to the area, the National Weather Service predicts snow showers of up to 6 inches may fall on Tuesday. In the past, New Orleans has rarely experienced detectable snowfall; the last time this happened was on Dec. 4, 2009. The city canceled Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. procession due to the winter storm. Because of the unusually cold temperatures and the precipitation, residents are encouraged to keep up with weather updates and be ready for any interruptions.
