NEW ORLEANS (Nov. 2, 2018) – Rapper Lil’ Boosie will headline the Dillard Homecoming concert at 9 p.m. Nov. 8 as part of nine days of festivities and up to 20 events.
“Homecoming 2018: The Bleu Experience” will run from Saturday, Nov. 3, through Sunday, Nov. 11 and also feature two new events: Bleu Talks, an empowerment session with celebrity guests, at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 in Lawless, and a student cook-off from noon to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 7 in Kearny, where specially chosen students will go head-to-head while mentored by Ray Charles’ Zella Palmer and Chef Theresa.
Born Torrence Hatch Jr. in Baton Rouge, Lil’ Boosie has released seven solo studio albums, along with six collaborative albums and numerous mixtapes. Tickets for the concert are $15 for students and $20 for general admission until Nov 7.
All but three of the homecoming events are free. Besides the concert, the other two are the Bleu Suite, also on Nov. 8, and the Neophyte Show on Nov. 10. The Dillard Activities Board will be releasing different price packages to get all three tickets at one less costly price, according to DAB’s Alexis Granville.
“DAB is extremely excited about all of the celebrity talent and corporate sponsors we’ve secured for this year's homecoming week,” Granville said.
Homecoming festivities will kick off with a Devils vs. Diggers flag football game at noon Saturday in Hardin Park, 2500 New Orleans St. and end with the Bleu Praise service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in Lawless Chapel.
The most event-packed day, of course, will be Saturday, Nov. 10, starting with the homecoming parade at 10 a.m. through Gentilly, followed by tailgating on Kabacoff Plaza and the Neophyte presentation. The men’s and women’s basketball games were moved to Friday. The Lady Bleu Devils will play Wiley College at 5:30 p.m., and the men’s team will compete against Selma at 7 p.m.
