Tiger Woods, the number one golfer in the World Rankings, performed the best first round comeback in tournament history last Sunday, defeating Chris DiMarco with a 15-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a do-or-die playoff.
Woods dedicated the win to his ailing 73-year-old father, Earl.”He couldn’t come out to the course to enjoy this, but it’s really cool for him to be here; he was with me every step of the way,” said Woods in a recent interview on Woods’ official website.Dillard University students were shocked to hear that Woods won after seeing that he was having a bad putting day.
“It was really unexpected because he was so far behind most of the tournament,” said Courtney Kennemore, a sophomore biology major from Huntsville, Ala., and Mylinda Gates, a sophomore sociology and social work from Los Angeles, Calif. Woods’ scoring average was 69.30 and his World Ranking is 13.74.
