NEW ORLEANS (Nov. 9, 2017) – Dillard University’s School of Nursing is expecting the result of its fall reaccreditation visit by April 2018, according to Dr. Sharon Hutchinson, chairwoman.

According to the DU website, the school is on probationary status with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, or LSBN, and holds full accreditation through the Accreditation Commission in Nursing, or ACEN.

In the meantime, the school plans to continue with its original strategy of reviewing and reconstructing the nursing program while continuing to educate current nursing students, Hutchinson said.

Dillard’s probationary status with the LSBN comes from not meeting the required alumni passing rate of 80 percent on the National Council Licensure Examination in 2016. The National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX, is a standardized test used by each state to decide whether or not a person is prepared to professionally practice nursing.

According to the LSBN’s annual reports, 88.89 percent of Dillard’s first-time NCLEX test-takers passed in 2012; 48.28 percent in 2013; 51.25 percent in 2014; and 50 percent in 2015. At that time, admission to the school was frozen.
