TikTok influencer and food critic Keith Lee hosted his inaugural FamiLee Day festival at the UNO Lakefront Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 16.
The event featured more than 40 vendors, live music, and fun family activities with an estimated 20,000 attendees.
Family activities included carnival rides, a performance from Grace’s Corner, and the FamiLee Day Obstacle Course, hosted by comedian and digital content creator Kevin Fredericks, known professionally as “KevOnStage.”
Dillard students had the opportunity to attend FamiLee Day for free with the help of HBCU marketer and correspondent Destinee’ Kerr and the generosity of Keith Lee.
“Dillard showed me love when I came to the yard in February, so hearing the students made it out to FamiLee Day meant a lot. I just wanted to make sure they were taken care of and enjoyed every moment,” said Lee.
Kerr coordinated Lee’s visit to Dillard as well as the ticket giveaway, showcasing the consistent and meaningful inclusion of HBCU students in cultural moments like this.
“Keith Lee is more than a food critic; he’s a legend beyond his time. A man of his word, he made sure every student participating in FamiLee Day was seen and supported. I’m proud to have experienced it all with impact,” said Kerr.
The entertainment lineup featured performances from local acts like Flagboy Giz, Ha Sizzle, La Reezy, and Subtweet Shawn. The lineup also featured social media star and rapper Shamar, and Grammy Award-winning artist Andra Day. The festival closed with headliners Mannie Fresh, New Orleans hip-pop artist, and Grammy Award-winning gospel artist Kirk Franklin.
The next FamiLee Day festival is set for Chicago in 2027.
