While Southern California suffered strong winds and severe fire damage, Southeast Louisiana caught small rain showers that caused big problems. New Orleans received a great amount of rain Oct. 22. As much as eight inches of rain had fallen on parts of New Orleans by late afternoon. The National Weather Service said more rain was expected overnight. Mayor Ray Nagin closed City Hall early and schools, including Dillard University also closed. People were asked to stay indoors until the flood potential subsided. The rain hit hard and the city temperatures have dropped, forcing residents to pull jackets from the closet. New Orleans will expect more rain in the beginning of November.
